Button Collages Blend Yarn and Buttons

This one--in progress--is made of mostly vintage buttons, plus a large bead, and a few other beads.

I always kind of know where I’m going with these collages when I get started, but I changed my foundation material for this one. It is a piece of light wood with holes for cross-stitching. Perfect for sewing buttons into, except that the needles I can get my yarn into don’t always go into the holes. I need to do some research on sewing needles, but I’m very creative with using other tools.

My last 3 projects have gotten custom button jewelry. I think as I’m letting go of writing patterns it is giving me time to have a bit more fun. Projects feel like I added the final flourish when I make these.

This is started like a Dorsett Button, but obviously expanded from there! I am still working on the third one.
