Today the Dermatologist Said My Skin was "Maturing"
Seriously? It always irked my mom when people said someone "passed". She always said, no, they died.
So I kind of feel that way about my skin “maturing”. But still this photo kind of snapped my head back. I’m not vain, but . . .
I had disfiguring excema on my right hand for as long as I could remember until my early 20s. After it cleared up, I thought my hands were pretty good looking and prided myself on how nice the skin always was (never mind that I chew my cuticles).
The past year they have looked all wrinkly. Oh, I know that my skin everywhere else is quickly losing elasticity (maturing?), I just didn’t expect it to be so visible on my hands. But let’s face it, the knuckles are getting larger and I have Dupuytrens contracture. But I have quit biting my cuticles as much!
Other than the psychic awareness that I have the hands of an old woman, it will change absolutely nothing. When not looking at that photo, I forget. That my skin is maturing. I like to think that my skin suit is just getting too big.
