Turning Around My Sketchbook Practice
I have always resisted drawing. Even though I thoroughly enjoy it, I cannot seem to make myself do it. Aaaaarrrgghh.
I sketch things in my head all the time, but rarely do I sit down and actually make a drawing. I do caveman drawings to orient myself with an idea, and I do graphics for Jill Wolcott Knits, but I do not just draw.
A couple of years ago Mitch and I signed up for a sketchbook class, but when we got to the first class it was really not what we were looking for so we decided not to go forward. I had big ideas of what I would do on my own. . . .
At the beginning of 2024 I grabbed the sketchbook I’d purchased for the class and decided I would work on it. I’ve done nearly nothing, but add some things from my bulletin board to the cover, and put a few things in the pages.
So I need to give myself some accountability to make myself undertake this practice seriously. I want to document ideas and things I am working on. This should not be hard! I’m going to watch this to inspire myself.
P.S. I was inspired by the Goal Setting exercises we did in Study Hall (post-Sprint program by Kate Gilbert).
