The Naked Truth: Introduction to My Manifesto

I forget to tell people why I do what I do and to talk about how much passion I have for the work I do!

I am calling this the Naked Truth because I don’t have makeup on. That feels pretty naked to me. Also, I was pretty succinct and honest. This is just the preview. There are four more parts.

These are my four passions as Jill Wolcott Knits:

  1. Knitwear Design. I can’t seem to stop myself!

  2. Knitting. Like you, I knit for pleasure, solace, joy, soothing, and entertainment.

  3. Sizing, fit and inclusion. I have learned a lot over my career, and I would love to help more people use their maker superpower to make things that fit them.

  4. Sharing my knowledge. I love to teach and share. I know things that not everyone knows just because I’ve been doing this so long!

  5. Changing the world. I would like to change the whole world to make it an easier place to live in, but I will settle for making some small changes within the fiber world.

I tend toward always showing up. This has been a weird and stressful week for me; not sure what is driving it or how I can stop the trajectory, but I always show up. Things I had planned for this week have not been feasible, so I have worked on other things.

Jill Wolcott Knits / Yarn Programmer & Fit Accessibility is a reader-supported publication. To receive new posts and support my work, consider becoming a free or paid subscriber.

I have figured out some things on my computer and on videos. I have taken action and completed things on many fronts. Just not where I wanted to. I am writing this in the hopes of resolving it by looking at it.

Last night near the end of the evening I ripped out the project I had been working on. It needed to be smaller (sometimes my vision isn’t as precise as it could be) and there wasn’t much point in going further. I figured that resolving it by the end of the evening would make room for a fresh start today.

As a Libra, I can always see both sides; additionally, my mother trained us to find every silver lining, so I end with this: The new size will be 18 stitches smaller, so rounds will go faster! Plus it is extremely soothing knitting. It’s all good!
